Can I clone someone else’s voice for an AI character?

The short answer

Treat the voice, source recording and script as separate clearances. A working voice model does not prove that the person agreed to your use.

A practical workflow

  1. Get written agreement covering the role, languages, territories, duration, commercial use and approval of sensitive dialogue.

  2. For ElevenLabs Professional Voice Cloning, the speaker creates and verifies their own clone, then shares it. Do not substitute your account for that verification.

  3. Keep approved scripts and voice versions together. Check the destination platform’s synthetic-media disclosure before publishing.

Before you publish

The original Korean question concerns a singer’s voice in music. This guide offers a production checklist and a specific platform workflow, not a conclusion on Korean law or permission to imitate a celebrity.

These guides respond to linked public questions. Editions in other languages translate the same evidence; they do not imply separate local demand or legal advice.
