What if purchased game assets might be AI-generated?

The short answer

A purchase receipt does not establish provenance. Steam’s survey covers AI-created content shipped to players. Resolve uncertainty before making the disclosure.

A practical workflow

  1. List each asset pack, seller, license version and intended use. Ask the seller in writing whether AI was used and what rights they grant.

  2. Keep an unresolved queue: do not mark an asset as human-made or cleared merely because its appearance is inconclusive. Replace uncertain assets when the release depends on certainty.

  3. Describe the actual shipped artwork, sound or narrative in the current survey. If the game generates content during play, review the live-generation requirements too.

Before you publish

This checklist is an editorial workflow, not a promise of Steam approval. A visual detector or a forum comment cannot settle ownership or your particular disclosure.

These guides respond to linked public questions. Editions in other languages translate the same evidence; they do not imply separate local demand or legal advice.
